What a wonderful week!!!

Our first week of September has been fun filled and very busy. The week started with Erik starting mother's day out on Tuesday (09/02). He was soooo excited to see his friends and his teacher Ms. Mary. He will be attending mother's day out 4 days a week this year.
On Wednesday, I had my weekly appointment to see the doctor...well, he admitted me to the hospital to monitor the baby. In a nut shell, we met Mary Beth on Thursday (09/04). The morning started with Dr. Banks breaking my water at 6:30am. Shortly after, I received my epidural and Mary Elizabeth Oxford (Mary Beth) entered the world at 9:04am. She weighed 6 lbs and 10 ozs. and was 19.5 inches long. The delivery was VERY FAST and relatively easy. Big brother Erik was even more excited to meet his baby sister than he was to start school. As I write this blog, I am resting in the hospital bed anticipating being discharged Saturday (09/06) morning. Enjoy the slideshow of the many pictures that were taken on Mary Beth's birthday!!!

Summer with the Oxfords

I thought now would be a good time to update everyone on our summer. Althouh we did have MDO three days a week, Erik and I had TONS of fun playing together!!! We started off the summer with vacation bible school at Meadow Brook Baptist Church (June 2-6). Our theme this year was Outrigger's Island and boy did Erik have a BLAST!!!

July kicked off with the 4th of July holiday. We made a trip down to Lake Blackshear to my parents house to enjoy the weekend by the pool and lake. We wathced fireworks on the lake!!!

My little swimmer!!!

July ended with Erik having back surgery 07/29/08 for a herniated disk. Thank goodness everything went well with his surgery and he is getting back to normal. I did cut the grass while he was unable to do "anything" for 3 weeks, much to the dismay of several of our friends.

On August 10 we headed to Concord, GA for the Oxford family reunion at Erik's grandmother's house. Believe it or not, we actually had some very mild weather that made for an enjoyable afternoon. Erik had fun playing with McCullough (his 2nd cousin).

Our last "adventure" this summer was a trip to the ZOO with Jenny and Jack Anderson. The favorite part of the whole day was getting to ride the train!!! Erik was very excited to see the animals and even exclaimed as we entered the zoo, "Animals, here we come!!!"

I did celebrate a birthday on August 20...34 years old!!! All in all, we have had a wonderful summer. Now that I have everyone caught up on the "Oxford's Ongoings" my posts won't be so long. Here are some random pics from this summer that I wanted to share.

Pregnancy Update

Well...Mary Beth is almost here and now I decide to update everyone on how my pregnancy has gone thus far. As most of you know Erik and I found out that we were pregnant with our second child in early January. This was confirmed with our first ultrasound on January 30 (7 weeks and 3 days pregnant). To say the least, this pregnancy has been very different from my pregnancy with Erik. I had morning, noon and night sickness until 16 weeks!!!! Something told me then that this was probably the little girl that we all wanted!!!

My second ultrasound was on February 27 (11 weeks and 3 days). By this time, I haven't gained any weight (due to being sick) and am just hoping that I start feeling better.

Seven more weeks to go and we finally get to find out the sex of our baby. At this ultrasound, April 16, I am 18 weeks and 3 days. By this time my sickness has gone away, thank goodness, and I am starting to feel much better. I have still not gained any weight, but I am sure since I feel better that will start gaining weight. I have posted several shots of HER!!!!

Now that we know she is a GIRL, we get to name her. Our new little girl will be Mary Elizabeth and we will call her Mary Beth. Now the fun begins...getting her room ready, buying girly clothes, and getting big brother ready for his new little sister.

My next appointment, May 14, was just a check to hear the heartbeat and make sure that everything was okay. I have gained weight - 6 pounds!!! The next appointment, June 12 is my one hour glucose test, which I failed with Erik, and suprise, we get to have another ultrasound. No problems with the baby just want to check on everything with me. We get yet another suprise, the ultrasound tech has just returned from an ultrasound class and she wants to experiement on me!!! For allowing her to experiment, she took a 3D of Mary Beth's face (26 weeks and 4 days). By this point I have gained 9 pounds and everything looks great!!!

Oh, by the way, I failed the glucose test again...I have to sit for 3 hours and get stuck 4 times!!! From here on out, doctor's appointments are just to measure me and hear the heartbeat. I have steadily gained about 1 pound per week up to this point and at my last appointment, which was August 21, I have gained 19 pounds. At this point I am weekly with my visits and hopefully we can introduce Mary Beth into the world soon!!!
